Music videos back then were just starting to become popular. The budgets for the videos were extremely small, unlike nowadays. Now videos are expected and musicians put more money into it because it could help them market their music better and they could make more money off of it. Back then it was done more for the artistic statement and for some fun.

Les Claypool would be that Bass player and he is so much better than The Police could ever hope to be I saw him live at Hookahville =]

Claypool is way beyond Sting in terms of technical ability. No contest

Primus used to crack me up. Their bass player was good,; he played a six string I think. The drummer was good too. They had a funny video out there about a “Race Car Driver.”

you’re wrong. the 9à’s had really good stuff. Pearl Jam is a new rock with the feeling of the 70’s, such as The Who. Nirvana was also great, and also did Rage Against The Machine, and other great stuff. The 00’s are also great! I mean, take a look at Foo Fighters! White Stripes have some great stuff, and many others! You should open your mind and analyse the things before saying such a rubbish. Good Luck.
